DCSD Standards for Foreign Language
Standard 1: The student communicates in a foreign language while demonstrating literacy in all four essential skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
1A Checkpoint: The student speaks in the foreign language or signs for a variety of purposes and diverse audiences.
1B Checkpoint: The student demonstrates the ability to read and derive meaning form a variety of materials written in the foreign language.
1C Checkpoint: The student writes/composes in a foreign language for a variety of purposes and diverse audiences.
1D Checkpoint: The student constructs meaning through context, intonation/expression and situation form selected listening sources such as speakers, authentic videos, films and recorded conversations by responding as required. The student also analyzes information from any of these sources.
Standard 2: The student acquires and uses knowledge of cultures while developing foreign language skills.
